Overview

Contemporary/Jazz is a fusion of jazz and ballet techniques, where the dancer moves through the meaning of the music. It is a passionate and emotional style of dance, where the dancer tells a story through their movements. This style is danced to a variety of types of music, whether it be slow and melodic or dynamic and up-beat. This is an open level class, geared toward beginner to intermediate dancers.

*Open Level – Open to any skill level, from absolute beginners to the more advanced dancer. This class is adapted to the skill level of the group.

What to Wear

Please wear clothing you feel comfortable dancing in. Most students like to wear comfortable pants or shorts with a tank top/t-shirt for example. Some students prefer to dance bare feet, or in shoes such as jazz dance, ballet shoes or foot undies (just as long as you have indoor shoes). For the on stage performance at the end of the session, dance foot undies work great or a nude jazz shoe. We'll chat more about costuming/shoes for performance day in class.
