General
Burlesque Fusion is a form of dance that infuses jazz and burlesque styles incorporating sexy movements like hip shakes, shimmies, struts, and fun footwork. This style is danced to upbeat or sultry, popular music. Burlesque fusion’s purpose is to empower individuals, making them feel confident and sexy—all in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment.
Burlesque is the classic art of strip tease and burlesque fusion takes sexy aspects from burlesque, however, is focused on the dance aspect of the style and no stripping is involved in our classes.
No, there is no stripping involved, as the focus of the class is strictly on dancing. There are sexy movements, but we keep all our clothes on throughout the class.
Please wear what you feel comfortable dancing in, whether it be athletic wear such as yoga pants, shorts or, if you would like to add a touch of burlesque to your ensemble, a crop top or heels. Some students prefer to dance in heels, but sneakers, jazz dance, character shoes, or bare feet are also an option. Heels are optional and not recommended for beginners new to this style of dance.
Due to the provocative nature of burlesque fusion classes, they are 18+, however there is no age limit. We invite all ages to take part in our welcoming, inclusive, and non-judgmental environment.

Yes! Prairie Diva puts on showcases at the Park Theatre and The Basement Speakeasy throughout the year. All participants involved in the current session, no matter the class, are invited to perform in the showcase alongside other local performers. These showcases are in the style of Burlesque Fusion and Contemporary/Jazz and other local performers in our shows include dancers, singers, pole dancers, classic burlesque acts, aerialists etc.
We offer two types of sessions. One is recreational (our non-performance classes) and one is for those more inclined to perform. Check out our current and upcoming sessions for more information on what type of session is happening at the moment.
Drop-ins are welcome for our non-performance classes. However, due to the nature of our showcases and the formations we put in place, we treat showcase sessions like rehearsals and only those registered may attend.
Yes, we do! For our Burlesque parties, we teach a short, simple burlesque fusion dance routine and then ladies have the option to get all dressed up and perform it for each other. We have costumes available to wear, such as boas, cute little feather tails, skirts and corsets. It’s a lot of fun!
